ENGLISH VERSION OF THE NARRATIVE TEXT 




A. Definition of Narrative Text
          Narrative Text is one of 13 types of English text (genre) who was born of the Narration (see Types Of Text) Likewise Recount Text, Text Anecdote, News Items Spoof Text and Text which serves to tell the story of the past and for entertainment.

B. Purpose Communicative Narrative Text
          Communicative Purpose Narrative Text as described above is to entertain listeners or readers on a story or stories of the past relating to real experience, imaginary or complicated events that led to a crisis, which eventually came to a solution.

C. Generic Structure of Narrative Text
Each type of English text (genre) has the structure of his text alone. Structure of Narrative Text consists of three parts:
1. Orientation
 On the Orientation or contain introduction of the introduction of the characters in the story as well as the time and place of occurrence.
2. Complication
Complication section contains an overview emergence of crises or problems experienced by characters in the story to be solved.

3. Resolution
In the Resolution contains about how the characters of the story solve existing problems in the Complication. Usually there are more than a Resolution for a Complication.
In some references about the Narrative Text, there are additional generic structure on Narrative Text, namely the addition of Coda after resoultion. So the composition of Narrative text is Orientiation, Complication, Resolution and Coda.
Coda is the last part of the structure Narrative Text that contains the changes in the character and lessons to be learned from the story.

D. Characteristics Discussion Narrative Text
On the Narrative Text, there are some characteristics are as follows:
Using Action Verbs in the Past Tense form. For example: Climbed, Turned, Brought, etc.
Using certain nouns as a personal pronoun, animals and certain objects in the story. For example: the king, the queen, and so on.
Using adjectives which form the noun phrase. For example: long black hair, two red apples, etc.
Using Time connectives and Conjunctions to sort the events. For example: then, before, after, soon, etc.
Using Adverbs and Adverbial Phrase to show the location of the incident or event. For example: here, in the mountain, happily ever after, and so on.

E. Example of Narrative Text
Many are already examples of Narrative Text that has been created, you can see it in English Folklore. But for more Official would, the authors present the following example of narrative text and examples.
1. Snow White
(Orientation)
Once upon a time there lived a little girl named Snow White. She lived with her Aunt and Uncle Because her parents were dead.
(Complication)
One day she heard her Uncle and Aunt talking about leaving Snow White in the castle Because they both wanted to go to America and they did not have enough money to take Snow White.

Snow White did not want her Uncle and Aunt to do this so she Decided it would be best if she ran away. The next morning she ran away from home when her Aunt and Uncle were having breakfast. She ran away into the woods.
(Resolution)
Then she saw this little cottage. She knocked but no one Answered so she went inside and fell asleep.
Meanwhile, the seven dwarfs were coming home from work. They went inside. There they found Snow White sleeping. Then Snow White woke up. She saw the dwarfs. The dwarfs said, "what is your name?" Snow White said, "My name is Snow White."

Doc, one of the dwarfs, said, "If you wish, you may live here with us." Snow White said, "Oh, could I? Thank you. "Then Snow White of toll the dwarfs the whole story and finally Snow White and the seven dwarfs lived happily ever after.

Then he saw a small hut. He knocked on the door but no one answered so he went in and feel sleepy.
Meanwhile, the seven dwarfs have come home from work. They entered. There they found Snow White asleep. Then Snow White woke up. He saw the dwarf. The dwarf said, "What's your name?" Snow White replied, "My name is Snow White."
Doc, one of the dwarf said, "If you want, you can stay here with us." Snow White said, "Oh, may I? Thank you." Then Snow White tells the whole story and finally Snow White and the seven dwarves live portion forever.
2. Three Fishes
(Orientation)
Once, three fishes lived in a pond. One evening, some fishermen passed by the pond and peace be upon him the fishes. 'This pond is full of fish', they told other call now excitedly. 'We have never fished here before. We must come back tomorrow morning with our nets and catch Reviews These fish! ' Then the fishermen left.
(Complication)

 Once upon a time, there exists three fish in a pond. In one afternoon, several fishermen passing through the pond and see the fish. "The pool was filled with fish", they see themselves talking to each other with passionate. "We've never fished here before. We have to come back tomorrow morning with our nets and manangkap these fish!" Then the fishermen go.
(Complication)
 When the oldest fish heard this, he was restless. He called the other fish and said, 'Do you hear what the fishermen say? We must leave this pool. Fishermen will be back tomorrow and kill us all! ' Fish both agree. 'You're right', he said. 'We have to leave this pool.'
But most young fish laugh. 'You worry about without any reason', he said. 'We have lived in this pool stews our lives, and there is no fishermen who come here. Why should people come back? I'm not going to go anywhere - luck would have saved me. '
(Resolution)
The oldest fish leave the pool on the day with the whole family sora. The second fish see fishermen coming in the distance in the morning and leave the pond with the whole family. The third fish still refused to go.

A. Pengertian Narrative Text

Narrative Text adalah satu dari 13 jenis teks bahasa inggris (genre) yang lahir dari kalangan Narration (lihat Types Of Text) sepertihalnya Recount TextAnecdote TextSpoof Text dan News Items Text yang mana berfungsi untuk menceritakan kisah masa lampau dan untuk hiburan.

                                    B. Tujuan Komunikatif Narrative Text

Tujuan Komunikatif Narrative Text seperti yang dijelaskan di atas adalah untuk menghibur pendengar atau pembaca tentang suatu kisah atau cerita masa lampau yang bertalian dengan pengalaman nyata, khayal atau peristiwa-peristiwa pelik yang mengarah ke suatu krisis, yang pada akhirnya menemukan suatu penyelesaian.

                                     C. Generic Structure Narrative Text

Setiap jenis teks bahasa Inggris (genre) memiliki struktur teks-nya sendiri-sendiri. Struktur dari Narrative Text terdiri dari tiga bagian yaitu :

1. Orientation
 Pada bagian Orientation atau pengenalan berisi tentang pengenalan tokoh dalam cerita serta waktu dan tempat kejadiannya.

2. Complication
Pada bagian Complication berisi tentang gambaran munculnya krisis atau masalah yang di alami oleh tokoh pada cerita tersebut yang harus dipecahkan.

3. Resolution
Pada bagian Resolution berisi tentang bagaiman tokoh dari cerita tersebut memecahkan masalah yang ada pada bagian Complication. Biasanya terdapat lebih dari satu Resolution untuk satu Complication.

Pada beberapa referensi tentang Narrative Text, terdapat tambahan generic structure pada Narrative Text, yaitu penambahan Coda setelah Resoultion. Jadi susunan Narrative text adalah OrientiationComplicationResolutiondan Coda.

Coda adalah bagian terakhir dari structure Narrative Text yang berisi perubahan yang terjadi pada tokoh dan pelajaran yang dapat dipetik dari cerita tersebut.


                                        D. Ciri Kebahasan Narrative Text

Pada Narrative Text, terdapat beberapa ciri-ciri antara lain sebagai berikut :
·     Mengunakan Action Verb dalam bentuk Past Tense. Misalnya : Climbed, Turned, Brought, dsb.
·     Menggunakan Nouns tertentu sebagai kata ganti orang, hewan dan benda tertentu dalam cerita. Misalnya : the king, the queen, dsb.
·     Menggunakan Adjectives yang membentuk noun phrase. Misalnya : long black hair, two red apples, dsb.
·     Menggunakan Time Connectives dan Conjunctions untuk mengurutkan kejadian-kejadian. Misalnya : then, before, after, soon, dsb.
